Westmount Church Launches the CHIP Program
By Sis. Leona Peters
8 November 2008 - Hooray! The Health Ministries Department at the Westmount SDA Church has launched an exciting project for its members and the neighbouring community. This is the Coronary Health Improvement Project, or CHIP.
CHIP is a community-oriented, wellness education program. Initiated by Dr. Hans Diehl, the CHIP program focuses on markedly reducing the key cardiovascular risk factors by adopting better health habits and appropriate lifestyle changes. Its goal is to facilitate disease reversal by lowering blood cholesterol, triglyceride and blood sugar levels, by reducing excess weight, lowering high blood pressure, enhancing daily exercise and by eliminating smoking.
As members of a Church that believes in health and temperance as core standards of Christian living, we thank God for the opportunity of learning new ways of keeping our bodies healthy and reaching out to the community around us to with messages of healthy living and sharing the word of God as well.
Let us all remember that healthy living is a valuable gift from God. We must share the information and knowledge we have with others. For more details, please contact, Sis. Leaona Peter, the Health Ministries Leader at Westmount Church.
