The Westmount Health Ministries Department Serves the CDN Community

1 February 2008 - The New Year inspires many resolutions and commitments, which often include goals for a healthy living. The pathway to a healthy life style is not an easy walk.
From 29 to 31 January 2008, Sis. Donna Cox, Hilary Blake and I were called to serve and evangelize in the Cote Des Neiges Plaza through health screening sessions. Many people we spoke to during our Health Screening exercise expressed a strong desire to enjoy a better life without medication.
More than fifty people came by our kiosk, most of whom just wanted to have their blood pressures taken. Some of them were on medications and others just wanted to have a clean bill of health.
I was particularly touched by the concerns of one young man. He said, “I am about to give one of my kidneys to a relative, how do I know if the remaining one will be okay?” If that one goes bad is someone going to give me a kidney?”, he asked. I said to him: “definite answers to your questions can never be given by any earthly physician, because things can start off well but may change down the line. However, there is a great physician who you need to cast your cares upon and trust, that is God. He will ultimately heal and protect you. I must say, this young man is looking for hope in his life. Regardless of the challenges, we are called to do God’s work.
Let us all remember that healthy living is a valuable gift to share.
